Dana K. O'Banion

Dana K. O'Banion serves as Of Counsel at Power & Dixon, P.C. He has over fourteen years of experience as a practicing attorney licensed in the state of Illinois. His practice is general with a major focus on real estate transactions. Mr. O'Banion has successfully closed several hundred real estate transactions. His client base includes individual buyers, sellers, and investors as well as small businesses.

Mr. O'Banion analyzed the real estate portfolio, including owned and leased properties, of a major quick service restaurant to determine transferability of properties into a Real Estate Investment Trust and prepared conveyance documents for the REIT. In addition to practicing law, Mr. O'Banion is the Manager of Advanced Realty Technologies, LLC, a real estate investment company. He also served as the Presiding Managing Member of Caliber Investments LLC, a real estate investment company.

Mr. O'Banion served as Executive Vice President of Operations and Legal for Telecom Development Group, a start-up technology real estate development company. In his capacity as Executive V.P., he worked directly with the CEO, Board of Directors and Venture Capital Group to launch and develop hybrid technology centers. He managed implementation for new market entry of technology facilities, coordinating efforts with all functional areas of the business.

Mr. O'Banion provided in-house counsel and managed and directed outside legal counsel. He was also integral in negotiating and closing a multi-million dollar transaction. He facilitated discussions with various companies for strategic alliance opportunities.

In addition, Mr. O'Banion was Senior Staff Counsel for the Chicago Housing Authority. As Senior Counsel, O'Banion drafted, reviewed and negotiated contracts, procurement documents and other acquisition/conveyance documents. Mr. O'Banion managed and closed numerous real estate transactions on behalf of the CHA. O'Banion successfully defended the CHA in commercial litigation. He also worked closely with CHA management and its Board of Directors in addition to supervising and training other attorneys.

Mr. O'Banion received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1991. He graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics in 1987. Mr. O'Banion is actively involved in numerous professional organizations including: Chicago Bar Association; Cook County Bar Association; Illinois State Bar Association; Federal Bar Association; Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association. Mr. O'Banion is involved with Fisk University's National Alumni Association and local chapter. He serves as an advisory board member for the South Side Community Art Center and volunteers time to the United Negro College Fund. He also serves on the Chicago Public Schools' Local School Council for Franklin Fine Arts Center.

Mr. O'Banion is a runner, a three-time Chicago Marathon finisher and a member of the Chicago Area Runners Association. He is married and has two handsome little boys.
