Aisha S. Cooks
Aisha Cooks was born in Mississippi and raised in Dallas, Texas. She graduated with honors from Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, Texas) in 1999. In September of 1999, Aisha began her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. There she pursued a dual major in Education & Social Policy and African-American Studies. While in college Aisha established herself as a leader amongst her peers serving as president of several student organizations and received the African American Studies Award for Academic Excellence. During her undergraduate years and before beginning law school, Aisha worked for a number of non-profit and political organizations focusing on public education policy and reform, including a 4 month internship with the Honorable Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30) in the United States House of Representatives. Aisha graduated from Northwestern University in 2003 with a B.S. in Education and Social Policy and began working as the Midwest Coordinator for a non-profit education organization.
In August of 2005, Aisha began her pursuit of a Juris Doctor at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. While at DePaul, Aisha served as an executive board member of several student organizations including the Black Law Students Association and the National Lawyers Guild. Aisha was a member of the DePaul Moot Court Society Trial Team and served as the student coordinator for the DePaul BLSA Moot Court and Mock Trial team. Attorney Cooks received her Juris Doctor in May 2008 and was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in November of 2008.
In October of 2008, Aisha joined the firm of Power & Dixon, P.C., where she plans to continue to serve the community at large and provide optimum legal representation to the firm's clients.
